Do MBA programs care about your math background?

Hey everyone! I’m curious—do top MBA programs look for a strong background in math? Like, do you need to have taken specific math courses before applying? Would love to hear what really matters for admissions.

Hey! Yeah, most top MBA programs do expect you to have at least some comfort with numbers since you’ll deal with stuff like finance, stats, and data in the course. Doesn’t mean you need to be a math whiz, but they’ll probably look at your academic background to see if you’ve handled quantitative subjects before. Even if you haven’t done hardcore math in school, showing you can keep up with the basics helps. Also, some folks take a top maths course in Germany or online just to brush up and strengthen their profile—totally doable.

Totally agree with this! I’ve seen people from non-math backgrounds get into great MBA schools, but they usually balance it out with a good GMAT quant score or do a quick math course to show they’re ready. A lot of applicants take short pre-MBA programs or even a top maths course in Germany (especially if you’re already headed there) to build that foundation. It’s more about showing you can handle the work than ticking off a specific subject.
