The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a public research university that was founded in 1859. It is the flagship university under the University of Illinois system and is often called the best public university in the United States. The research expenditure at the University was $642 million in 2017. With 16 schools and colleges under its fold, the University offers more than 150 undergraduate degrees and approximately 100 graduate programs.
