Best way to connect to upcoming and existing students as a upcoming international grad student

I am an upcoming grad student for Fall 24. I will be studying for a MS is CS, coming there from India. I wanted to know what would be the best way to connect with other upcoming students and existing students before I reach US for housing, getting to know the area and all the important things and advice in general. For housing part I have so far created a profile in the UT Dallas off campus housing site and am going through the listings. What are other ways I can know people? I am part of the discord group as well

Hi,

Usually university helps in adding students to various UTD WhatsApp groups for housing, but I will recommend you to go for Northside apartments, it’s just next to the university, and even the testing center is within walking distance, with great ambiance and lit-up ambiance even in the midnight you will like it for sure.

Try to connect with 4 other students from your batch and take a 2b2b on the lease, per person, rent should come around 600 per month.

It’s very safe as well. and if you are looking for the cheapest option you can try the Ashwood apartment in Plano.

Also living in a northside apartment helps in getting a part-time job on campus as well, as you can opt for late work shifts as well.
