Hello,
I totally relate with you, even if I used to code, after working in some managerial work, I just started going down the hill as a coder. I made a mistake which also helped me. I started doing master’s in Computer Science, and I made a very life changing decision. I changed my program to Master’s in Engineering Management. I have an idea of Software Engineering, but not ITS. I would suggest you to go with Software Engineering Program. There is a good demand for it.
Reasons Why I changed:
If I had graduated as CS major, I would have to work in a CS related job role, such as a developer only, and not in other job roles, because, It would/could have become a problem with me when I would apply for H1 Visa.
With my experience of being in US for one year, and the amount of people, and my job profile, I didn’t think I could get a developer’s job and even If I did, I don’t think I would be happy working or yielded good results.
I like studying in Engineering Management now, because I get to learn all the programs related to Management and Engineering in different fields. Graduating from this program to work in any management related job in Engineering sector, which is a broader than CS.
The reason why I wanted to share my story is, don’t make the mistake I did, and waste time and money, Although, I didn’t, I had some subjects credit transferred to my current program, and do what you think you want to do.
I hope this helps.
Thank You,
Abhishek Nagaraja
